Note to Self

Keep a better eye on my kids!
Yesterday afternoon I was doing some work on the computer back in my bedroom. The girls (elizabeth and Mia) were playing around the house. I could hear them, just didn't check up on them for a while. . . I was busy, you know!
After a while a started to smell something funny. I didn't check on it right away, as my gut told me to. But a coulple minutes later, went out down the hall and into the kitchen to a room full of smoke! Seriously thick and hard to breathe.
This is what I found:
Mia had started the microwave by herself to try to reheat some spaghetti. Really scarey. The house could have burned down. Now I just have to deal with the smell and the headaches that are coming with it from the smoke. I aired out the house all afternoon, but I think the smell will linger on for a while now. Ugh. I need to keep a better eye on my kids!
I guess we will be buying a new microwave this week. It was on the fritz anyway. . .

Eyre Kick. ..

I had to share two of my "happiness" pictures from my 365 project this weekend. I spent a good amount of time devoted to Jane Eyre. I read and finished the book "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde. Loved it. Friday night when I was just a bit into the book, I decided I needed to have a little review of what happens in the actual book Jane Eyre, so I pulled out the Masterpiece Theatre movie. David sat down to watch it with me, and I didn't think he would make it through it to the end, but he did. And not only did he watch the whole thing, but we stayed up until 2 am to finish it! The first disc finished at about midnight and I thought we would stop and watch the next one later, but we both had a bit too much diet coke, so we popped in the next disc. Once we started it, I had to watch it until the end. I loved it. .. . both the book and the show. I great weekends entertainment for me!

Party time

We had a fun family dinner/get together last night at Jeff and Eliza's. Eliza fixed dinner and made me a cake for my birthday. I am being humble and displaying my age here: Eliza was so nice to do dinner and cake for me. Here I am as everyone was singing a lovely "Happy Birthday to you"

The boys got into a rousing game of Risk. Luke was upset when we said we needed to go and the game wasn't done. That game goes on FOREVER!
Dan and David enjoyed Chases i touch. It is pretty cool, I have to admit.
Mia should be in trouble for this. She was not supposed to be jumping on the bed!
Chase and Luke eating on the floor and checking out the i touch.
Elizabeth and Jacob. Jacob got passed around quite a bit. He is such a happy baby!
Windsor and Mia making beautiful music together. Thanks Jeff and Eliza for having us, and for helping me celebrate my birthday! so let's see. .. 36 things that are great about me. .. . (just kidding)

Any one have any thoughts?

I am considering getting a new camera, and this one is on sale this week. Do any of you know anything about it. .. if it is a decent camera or not? It is the Kodak Easy Share Z1085 I don't want to waste my money. .. . but I think it is time for an upgrade from my 4.1 magapixel camera I have now!

Happiness is. . . .

My 365 Flickr project I decided to do!

At the first of January, Shannon ( my wonderful sister in law, who is more like a sister than in-law), invited me to join a group doing this photo project. I take a picture each day, through the whole year and showcase it in my flickr account. At the end of the year, I guess I will have a little picture account of each day. As a group, they came up with the theme for January. "Happiness is. . . "
I just have to say how much I am enjoying this little project. I wake up each day thinking of what is going to make me happy that day! And then I have to take a picture of the moment. It is one way to help defeat my winter blues! It is also making me wish I had a much better camera as well as photography skills. .. because the other gals in the group come up with some AMAZING pictures.
You can check it out on the right. Thanks, shannon, as well as the other members of the "group". . . . I am loving interacting with each of you and seeing what pictures you have each day.

Embarassing. . .

. . . That is the word to describe David and I's feelings as we cleaned out and organized our closet last week. Where did all this CRAP come from? Seriously embarassing.
We have a small closet (no walk-in for us) and decided it was time to try and organize it the best we can. So we pulled everything out (our room looked like a bomb went off), painted inside, put up a few organizers, got rid of a bunch of junk and clothes that haven't been worn in three years, and it looks much better. I still wish I had a walk in closet, but we have to live with what we've got for now.
I can't believe I am even putting this picture up. Really embarassing. I should have a picture of the closet "before", but I don't. Just this. Piles of stuff everywhere.
David, measuring to put up our little organizing shelves and hanging racks. The finished product. Not great, but oh so much better than it was before. I hate having a small closet! But a big improvement.

4 wheeling

Our good friends, the Rasmussens, live in St George and we were able to spend a day with them while we were there. They took us out on their 4 wheelers. We left from their house, drove a little ways down the road to some off road trails. Renee drives the Rhino which can carry the kids in the back. David and Luke shared a 4 wheeler. We all had a great time. We were a little cold when we got back, so we went for a dip in their hot tub. We had a great day.
