mia

I really haven't felt the inspiriation lately to blog. Not that life isn't happening around here, I just don't feel like the voice is there to say anything. But I did take these pictures of Mia this morning while we were doing our yoga. I love when she comes down during my "meditation" part (I am laying on the floor with my eyes closed). She comes and lays down by me and holds my hand. Very sweet.

Our Florida Getaway

David and I, (with our friends, Cory and Cassie), were able to take a little trip to Florida for a few days. Here are a few pictures. . . . Our condo was so nice. It had three bedrooms, a nice living area, and kitchen. The complex was a new, gated community with a really nice pool, hot tub, exercise room, game room, etc.
We were able to see a rocket launch while we were there. It was an incredible experience. It was from Cape Canaveral, and we were able to see it from the beach. It only lasts about a minute, but it was a once in a life time opportunity for us to see.
We spent all day Saturday at Universal Studios. There were still plenty of people there, but luckily not too long of lines. I don't enjoy lines at all. Later that night, The Barenaked Ladies performed in concert. This was included in our admission ticket, and was the highlight of the day (at least for David and I). They were so entertaining, and we really like their music.
Sunday, David and Cory were able to catch a spring training ball game, while Cassie and I lounged in the sun at the pool. I would have enjoyed the game, but wanted to enjoy the sun even more! Later in the day, we stopped by the Orlando Temple, and then stopped for a bite to eat.
Monday, we went out to Coco beach. We had a blast playing in the waves, and laying the the sun, getting sand on our feet. We came home with a sunburn, even though we had lotion on!
We traveled back on Tuesday. .. back to the real world and the cold in Utah. I owe a huge shout out to my mom and dad for being willing to come up and stay with the kids. The kids had a great time having grandma and grandpa here to keep them entertained. They keep asking when you are coming back. .. . thanks so much!

Why not sooner??

So, David and I just returned last night from our getaway to Florida. We had a great time. I have been trying to figure out why it took us 14 years of marriage to finally take a trip with out the kids. Here are the reasons I came up with:
  • MONEY. . . . or should I say lack of it. enough said
  • Babies. . . . I was paranoid to leave little babies, or kids who aren't potty trained.
  • Baby sitter. . . we have not had any one close by who doesn't have to work who could be available to help with the kids.
  • Initiative. . . just the time it takes to plan everything. Not just the trip, but everything at home as well.

I really think those are the main reasons. But luckily, we had some money saved up, no more babies (and all the kids are potty trained too), my parents now live just 3 1/2 hours away (so close enough to come up), and we took the time to plan. And I can't believe it took 14 YEARS for us to do this!!

Thanks so much Mom and Dad for helping us out, so we could have this much needed time away together. Hopefully it won't be 14 more years before we get away again (Mia would be 17 then)!

I will post more pictures later. No time right now.

A new something. .

I have found a new love. . . . Audio Books!
I don't know why I haven't really tried these before, because reading is one of my favorite hobbies. I love having a book to read on hand. I prefer to read over watching tv. There's nothing like a good book, right?
I have realized that the next best thing is audio books! When I was heading down to St George and Vegas for my girls weekend with my mom and sisters, I decided I needed something to help pass the time in the van, since I would have some time to myself. I went to the library and checked out the 6th Harry Potter audio book. I haven't read it for a while and since this movie is coming out this year, I thought it might help to pass the time.
And boy did it! I finished listening to it yesterday (with a few tears, I have to add- what a great book!), and am going to go get the next one now. Jim Dale is so good at reading the different voices, and making it so interesting. Plus I LOVE how I can multi task and listen to the book at the same time. Driving, cleaning the house, folding laundry, etc. I have found a new love! It will not replace my love for reading, but just supplement it. . . .
do any of you have a favorite audio book that you have listened to?
