Help!

I am the room mom for Kennedy's 4th grade class. (And I am asking myself why I volunteered !) This Thursday is their class Halloween party, and I am supposed to come up with ideas for games to entertain the kids in her class. I am getting 4 parents to come in and run different stations that we will rotate through, each one a different game or activity. One of the parents I called said she would come up with her own idea. . . .all the rest were willing to come help, but didn't want to come up with the activity. So I am wondering if anyone of you have any great ideas for a Halloween party game at school??

How about decorating pumpkin cookies? or making masks, or go to library and check out a book on games or activities. I haven't had to think about that for a long time. Good luck

Our school does a big carnival for halloween where the kids play games in each classroom. So I haven't had to plan a Halloween party but the Family Fun website is always a good one to go to for crafts and stuff. Have a great time! :)

My ideas off the top of my head were: decorating cookies or cupcakes, they love that. Have a story station and read a halloween book (like winne the pooh probably has a cute story for example), do halloween bingo, make a simple craft (you can find lots of ideas just google)

We just threw a little Halloween b-day party for our oldest who turned five, so these may by a bit juvenile, but they loved playing "Pin the Face (black construction paper triangles for eyes/nose/mouth) on the Pumpkin" to make a jack-o'-lantern; Musical Chairs with Halloween music; Halloween Scavenger Hunt with pictures and clues (if interested, I can email them); and of course the classic Eating Donuts off a String Contest.

About 5 years ago, my husband made a big pumpkin out of wood, with holes where the eyes, nose, a
nd mouth would go. I've used it for a bean bag toss literally at every halloween party we go to! The ward even borrows it. For the school, I attach some fabric behind the holes with numbers like 5, 10, and 20. And they get three throws then have to add their points together.
The kids love it. and I of course give the winners an extra peice of candy.

Besides the cookie decorating, mini pumpkin decorating was always a hit. Does the class have a budget? Sometimes grocery stores will give you those tiny pumpkins for free or at a really good discount, and then you just buy googlie eyes, pipe cleaners, etc and let the kids glue stuff on. Another fun thing for little kids is making necklaces; if you can find the orange and black straws, cut them into one inch pieces and let the kids string them on yarn (if you can't find them, you can use pasta on orange or black yarn.) If you have a little bigger time slot to fill, make "GHOST" bingo cards (like your moms "SANTA" bingo) and use candy corn for markers. Or you could do the paper-bag pumpkins - use small lunch sacks, have the kids color them orange with markers, fill them with newspaper, twist the top to make a stem and wrap with green electrical/duct tape, and have kids draw a face with a black marker. You can make very cute "ghost" lollipops by putting a kleenex over a tootsie pop, tie-ing a string around the stick and drawing a face on it. Or let the kids make "spiders" using oreos, frosting and black licorice laces. Paper bats can be made by tracing their hands on black paper, gluing together at the wrist area, and attaching a cat-shaped head to the top that you traced on paper for them to cut out. Or you can let them make masks using paper plates.
Sorry - written a book here - I am so sad that I don't get to help with class parties anymore!!!

bean bag toss, bowling (you can use 2 liter bottles as the pins, and a soccer ball for the ball), a mini cake walk (the prize being one mini cup cake or brownie). They could decorate a paper sack with halloween themed stickers, foamies, markers, etc. (They did this at our ward party last night & it was a huge hit, especially the foamies. Then kids that forgot their candy bag for trick or treating used the paper one. There was ring toss too.

Good luck, I'm sure it will be fantastic.
