We're Back!

Thank heaven they invented DVD players in the Car! What a life saver!

We made the trek from Washington back to Utah Yesterday. The first leg of the trip was great. Everything went smoothly, no problems. We had the truck that we are bringing back with us, and it was running great. We stopped at our favorite place for lunch on the road in Ontario.

Then we hit the road and thought everything was great. I was driving the van, and David was in the truck. Out of the blue, the truck died. Just stopped going and wouldn't go anymore just outside of Nampa, ID. We felt like it was deja vu of our experience in Baker, OR a few years back. We had to have a tow company come and get the truck and tow it to a shop. At this point it was Friday night at 7pm. The shop was closed and we figured there was no way we would be seen on sat, so we left the truck and hopped in the van and drove back to Utah. David talked to the guy at the shop and our feelings were right, they can't get to it until Monday. So even though we rolled in at 2 am, we are glad to we decided not to stay the night. Mom and Dad will hopefully be able to pick it up on their way through this next week and bring it the rest of the way.

So today we are busy getting things unpacked, picking up, watering the yard, mowing the grass, and cleaning this. ..

The van is filthy. No more eating in the van now that we aren't vacationing. Too many crumbs!

We are glad to be back, but it is sooo hot! We are missing the pool already!

Just thought I would post a picture of Luke and Paul playing video games. This is where they hung out a lot of the time at Chelan.I also just had to post this picture of Elizabeth. She wore her self out!

Chelan

Mia is not  drowning.  She has learned to put her face in the water.  She is constantly saying "mom, want to watch me put my  face in the water?"

So pleased with herself .
Kennedy enjoys playing with Brian.
Kyle with Luke and Paul.
Paul and Luke enjoying the Juke box at the pizza joint we went to.
Beach Time.
Shave ice time.
More Pool time.
Our time in Chelan is coming to a close as we take off tomorrow morning to head back to Utah and prepare for Julia to come next week and our family reunion in July.  It has been wonderful.  Our first week was fun with everyone here.   I enjoyed getting up and exercising with Mom every morning.  David enjoyed going golfing with Kurt several times.  And of course pool time, beach time, reading  time, card games, and a lot of video game time for the kids as well.
This week has been a little different.  I stayed here to watch the kids as Mom and Dad headed over to Seattle to pack up and complete the sale of their home.  David went and helped for several days.
I have tried to keep the kids busy as Shannon and Bronte left for Girls Camp, and Kurt has been back and forth from work every day.
A high light for the kids was Brian and Kyle stopping by yesterday and swimming for a while.
Thanks for  having us, Kurt and Shannon!  We can't wait for Bear Lake and EVERYONE being there!

Grateful

I just had to share a story that happened as we were preparing to leave for Washington over a week ago. . . . I had several errands to do, and the first was stopping by the bank to get some cash. After being out for a couple hours, and also spending a little of the money, I stopped to count the cash I had left. I counted several times, and looked over my receipts and realized that I was twenty dollars short. I couldn't figure how that much money could be missing. I retraced my steps, went to the bank, called the stores I had been to, but no luck. The phone rings Saturday morning as we are preparing to leave. It is an employee from Sam's Club (one of my stops the previous day), and says that someone had found a twenty dollar bill on the ground and turned it in, and she assumed that it was mine. I couldn't believe it, actually. Not only did someone find it, (how I managed to drop a twenty on the floor is beyond me, but I was shopping with three of the kids so was distracted, I guess?) but they turned it in! We stopped to get the money on our way out of town. I am great ful that there are still a few honest people in the world out there. Thanks.

More birthday pictures. . .

David made Kennedy a birthday breakfast of french toast. .. yummy. Kennedy about to blow out her 8 candles on her birthday cake. Opening gifts, with Elizabeth looking on. Enjoying cake and ice cream. Luke, Paul, Kyle, Brian, Nicole (Brians "friend"), Vanessa (Kyle's "friend"), Kennedy (like her new fashionable glasses?), Joe, and Elizabeth.
Thanks to everyone for celebrating with us.
Happy Birthday Kennedy!

Happy Birthday to Kennedy!

I can't believe that Kennedy is now 8!
What a sweetie she is. We started the day with some miniature golf, then a swim in the pool, playing, and we are now having a barbeque. She's a lucky girl, and we are lucky to have her in our family. We love you!

Summer so far

I have had several pictures that I have meant to post and have got a bit behind. So in the next day or so I am going to do a couple posts of our summer activities so far. School was out on May 29 and Kennedy "graduated" from second grade.

She really liked her teacher, Ms.KJ.

We've had a variety of activities so far this summer. The girls have enjoyed playing a lot with their friend, Juliette. They enjoyed playing in the sprinklers on one of our warmer days.

Kung fu Panda, Watch out!

Yard work is never ending. I have been out weeding every day to try and get the yard under control. I don't know if it is ever going to happen, but I am making progress. There is such a network of weeds that it is difficult to get all of them up.

This is just to give you an idea of what I am trying to tackle. The middle picture is of my piles of weeds after amost 3 hours of working. The third picture is of my forest of weeds waiting to be pulled. If anyone gets bored, I have plenty of weeds to go around.

I had to put this picture of Mia holding a popsicle. We went through a whole box of otter pops in a week. Mia pulls up a chair to get in the freezer and help herself. I find the wrappers all over the place.

We have had a few family get togethers as well. This last weekend we celebrated June birthdays in the Kindrick family. Cortt turned 14 on the 5th, and Kennedy's is coming up on the 18th. Since we are going to be out of town, we celebrated with the family early.

This is my very sad cake. It was sad to start with because I attempted to decorate, but then Mia stepped on the lid in the car. One bonus is that the kids enjoyed licking all the frosting off the lid. Both of the cakes. Eliza didn't have any candles so we used these big ones. Better than nothing, but they looked pretty funny. Eliza had dropped Cortt's cake, but it fared much better than Kennedy's did. Kennedy really likes her cousin, Cortt. She just wasn't going to be happy until we had some sort of celebration for their birthdays. We have spent a fair amount of time at the ball park as well. Luke has done well and so far his team is 3-1. His last game was his best so far. He was 3 for 3 with two doubles and a single, and 3 rbis. He played first base most of the game. Had one really nice play there as well.

Right before one of his doubles.

I will post some more of our adventures at the end of the week.

Relieved

Just a little news. I was released as Primary President yesterday at church. I have loved the 4 1/2 years that I have served in the Primary, but have been a bit burned out for a while now. I look forward to going on vacation this weekend with out a calling to stress about while we are away. I'm not answering the phone this week!

Wheat Waffles

My friend, Amy, has a blog that is totally dedicated to keeping your family healthy. She gives a lot of great ideas. I am not close to being as good as she is in eating healthy, but I have tried one idea she gave. I went out and purchased whole wheat flour, as well as a bucket of wheat (of course I don't have a grinder, so not sure how I am going to use this). The first recipe I have tried using my whole wheat is her recipe for waffles. I also used her suggestion to make extra to freeze for later. My kids ate the waffles up (of course they still have the syrup on top), and enjoyed having frozen waffles for an easy breakfast later. I felt that it was at least slightly healthier than the normal waffles I make. Luke put some peanut butter on his and bananas, I tried it and it was quite good. Here is her recipe for Whole Wheat Waffles:
2 1/4 C whole wheat flour
1 C white flour
5 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
4 Tbsp sugar
4 eggs
3 C milk
1/2 C canola oil
2 tsp. vanilla
If any one else has a good recipe for me to try using my wheat four, let me know!

Almost Done

So our bathroom is in the final stages of being completed. I was actually able to use the shower for the first time today. Very exciting. We love it! Unfortunately, I don't have a "before" picture of the bathroom. But the tile was ugly brown around the shower as well as the vanily. This is the ugly tile in our kitchen (hopefully a remodel at some point down the road), which is similar to the old tile that was in our bathroom. The tile on the floor is a beautiful marble, which comes up a little on the wall as well. Really nice. I LOVE having a new toilet that has SUPER flush! Seriously, you have no idea how much I love having a toilet that flushes properly and fast! It also is going to save us a TON of water.

We widened the door and replaced the old brown hollow door with a white 6 panel door. We love the chair rail also. Painting still needs to be done, so the wall is not complete yet, but I was too excited to wait. This is another AWESOME part of the bathroom. Jeff did an amazing job making these custom built in shelves in the shower. Did I say how much we love the glass tile accents as well that go through out the bathroom?
This is our new vanity with black onyx granite top. We basically designed the whole bathroom around this piece. David just finished hooking up the drain today. You can see on the wall where he just finished the dry wall around the outlet and light switch. Now if we could only do something about this. .. . We are going to put in a glass door, but that is on hold for a little while. Unfortunatley we have to use this ugly shower rod, liner and old hooks. I guess we can't have it all right now.
This next week we will paint, and I am going to get new towels and bath rug. I love our new bathroom. What do you think?
